Moisture- Activated Dry Granulation

ثبت نشده
چکیده

In the pharmaceutical industry, the three most common granulation processes for solid dosage form production are wet granulation, dry granulation (roller compaction) and direct blending. Yet, despite being well-established techniques, each has its drawbacks. Moisture-activated dry granulation (MADG) was developed in response to the difficulties experienced with wet granulation, in terms of endpoint, drying and milling, and offers an efficient, cost-effective granulating process that does not require a drying step.

Granulation techniques and technologies: recent progresses

Granulation, the process of particle enlargement by agglomeration technique, is one of the most significant unit operations in the production of pharmaceutical dosage forms, mostly tablets and capsules. Granulation process transforms fine powders into free-flowing, dust-free granules that are easy to compress. Nevertheless, granulation poses numerous challenges due to high quality requirement o...

Moisture adsorption and desorption properties of colloidal silicon dioxide and its impact on layer adhesion of a bilayer tablet formulation

A bilayer tablet formulation approach was used to develop a fixed dose combination tablet formulation of drugs Y & Z. The weight of Layer I containing Drug Y and the weight of Layer II A or II B containing Drug Z were 250 mg and 1280 mg, respectively. While Layer I was manufactured using dry granulation, Layer II A and II B were manufactured using a moisture activated dry granulation (MADG) pro...

Physicochemical characterization of tretinoin tocoferil emulsion and povidone-iodine sugar ointment blend developed for improved regulation of wound moisture.

Maintenance of proper moisture and regulation of infection are simultaneously required to promote healing of pressure ulcers. Continuous use of water-rich ointment may often lead to excess moisture and induce edematous granulation tissue. Use of water soluble ointment may excessively absorb exudates and induce dry granulation tissue. Selection of appropriate topical ointment is desired to avoid...

Pharmaceutical Characterization of Aqueous Stem Bark Extract of Bridelia ferruginea Benth (Euphorbiaceae)

Purpose: To characterize some preformulation properties of aqueous stem bark extract of Bridelia ferruginea Benth (Euphorbiaceae) (BF). Methods: The stem bark was extracted by maceration in hot distilled water. Two batches of granules containing the extract were prepared by wet granulation using maize starch, polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP), Avicel PH-101, magnesium stearate, acacia and lactose as e...

Effect of temperature and moisture on the dormancy and activation pattern of Oxalis latifolia bulbs

The effect of temperature and moisture on the activation of two forms of Oxalis latifolia Kunth bulbs —common and Cornwall— was studied. Gaining knowledge about the conditions needed for their activation may contribute to the control of this weed. Bulbs were kept in a refrigerator at +4°C for 13, 20, 27, 41, 48 and 55 days. At each sampling date, three sets of 30 bulbs of both forms were transf...
